Aonix YTD Revenue Doubles in Real-time Java™ Market
PERC VM sales and service already exceed total 2004 revenue Embedded Systems Conference, Boston, MA,
September 12, 2005 Aonix®, a provider of solutions for safety- and mission-critical applications, is pleased to announce that its year-to-date revenue in real-time PERC VM solutions doubled 2004 January through August sales. Increased Java™ interest has resulted in 2005 revenue already surpassing the 2004’s total revenue from products and services supporting Java development. Revenue increases are due both to increased numbers of customers and to an increase in the average deal size. This year’s PERC sales have spanned multiple industry sectors, including defense, manufacturing, test equipment, office automation, automotive, and communications. “We are encouraged to see that today’s applications of real-time Java technologies are maturing and starting to maximize the strengths of Java,” commented Kelvin Nilsen, CTO of Aonix. “Many of the customers that we have engaged with in 2005 have considerable experience developing and deploying embedded real-time Java technologies often using products supplied by other vendors. Today’s buyers are much better informed regarding the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to real-time Java.” “We are pleased to see that our original vision for the PERC product family is now being realized,” stated Jacques Brygier, Aonix vice president of marketing. “In the past year, many companies have transitioned from viewing real-time Java as a curiosity to recognizing its value as a critical part of their embedded software infrastructure. Our PERC technology is increasingly recognized for its real-time capabilities in high-reliability markets such as networking and communications, aerospace and defense, and automotive.” In response to the strong demand for PERC virtual machine products, Aonix is increasing its investments in this product line. Underscoring its commitment to growth in the real-time Java market, Aonix recently announced that Dave Wood has joined their team as PERC Product Marketing Manager. Wood has been involved in leading real-time and embedded systems products and applications for two decades. In the formative years of real-time Java, he acted as industry consortium marketing director tasked with developing a road map for the use of Java in real-time and embedded systems. In response to increased international interest in Java technology, Dr. Kelvin Nilsen, world-renowned Java technology researcher and Aonix CTO, is scheduled to deliver a series of lectures on implementing real-time Java solutions. His first lecture takes place later this week at Nortel and then in October, he will be in Europe to deliver a series of lectures in Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. A recent white paper authored by Dr. Nilsen is available at www.aonix.com/perc.html. PERC® is a clean-room virtual machine expressly created for demanding embedded and real-time systems requiring J2SE support. PERC delivers the ease and efficiency of Java Standard Edition support without sacrificing integrity, performance, or real-time behavior. It offers AOT and JIT compilation, remote debug support, deterministic garbage collection, standard graphics and extended commercial RTOS support. About Aonix Aonix offers mission- and safety-critical solutions primarily to the military and aerospace, telecommunications and transportation industries. Aonix delivers the leading high-reliability, real-time embedded virtual machine solution for running Java™ programs deployed today and has the largest number of certified Ada applications at the highest level of criticality.
