Aonix Teams with RTI on Data Distribution for Secure Systems
Aonix PERC Combines with RTI Data Distribution Service for real time response on VxWorks MILS platform San Jose, CA–March 31, 2009—Aonix®, the provider of the PERC® product line for embedded and real-time Java™ developers, announced that it is partnering with Real-Time Innovations (RTI) to provide integrated standards-based data distribution services to PERC Ultra for the Wind River Systems VxWorks MILS platform. The companies have also formed a partnering agreement paving the way to jointly market RTI Data Distribution Service and Aonix PERC® technologies to their mutual customers. Lead by demand from a major aerospace customer, the integration of the PERC virtual machine with RTI Data Distribution Service, will make it possible for the users to leverage fast and reliable data access within their security-sensitive applications. The customer will run RTI Data Distribution Service using Aonix PERC, the real-time virtual machine for embedded Java developers, featuring reliable garbage collection, predictable performance, and compatibility with a broad range of off-the-shelf components. The combination provides for a full real-time distributed data solution in an internal R&D application to demonstrate the feasibility of ensuring secure access to data across multiple partitions in a real-time system. “Thanks to Aonix technology and RTI expertise in real-time data distribution, customers will be able to implement complex secure systems more efficiently,” explained David Barnett, vice president of marketing at RTI. “Operating RTI Data Distribution Service in a Java environment is a testament to the robustness of the middleware and the flexibility of the Aonix virtual machine.” “Security is a significant challenge facing many market segments,” said Gary Cato, Director of Marketing at Aonix. “This is especially true of suppliers to the military in the Aerospace and Defense segment. The combination of RTI Data Distribution Services in a secure environment together with Java provides significant advantages to system performance and security while streamlining development and reducing maintenance costs of long life-cycle applications.” About the PERC Family PERC Ultra has many competitive advantages that have made it the virtual machine of choice among mission-critical Java™ developers. PERC offers great flexibility to get the job done, with more execution modes, higher throughput, and better predictability than the nearest competitors. The PERC Ultra real-time garbage collection system is mature and proven through over a decade of use in critical applications worldwide, and the current PERC Ultra release supports versions of the Java™ JDK up to three versions more recent than competitive offerings. With hundreds of thousands of deployments, PERC is the most widely used virtual machine technology for mission-critical applications. The PERC Ultra virtual machine offers rich JSE™-based capabilities, and predictable garbage collection, while PERC Pico provides the low-level access and small latencies that are often required for close-to-the-silicon applications. PERC technologies are more predictable and reliable than other Java solutions, while offering much higher productivity and lower lifetime costs than C/C++ applications development. About RTI Data Distribution Service RTI Data Distribution Service provides application programming interfaces that comply with the Object Management Group (OMG) Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems (DDS) specification, the leading standard for high-performance real-time application integration. RTI also natively supports the Real-Time Publish-Subscribe (RTPS) wire protocol for peer-to-peer interoperability with other RTPS-compliant DDS implementations. About Aonix®
