Aonix Ports PERC® VM to QNX Neutrino® RTOS PERC provides real-time control and network infrastructure for industrial applications
Nürnberg, Germany, February 16, 2004 Aonix®, an independent global company delivering complete solutions for safety- and mission-critical applications, announced the port of PERC 4.1 to the QNX Neutrino 6.x RTOS. PERC, a Java virtual machine designed to provide real-time control, offers a new level of design control. With this port, developers are able to manage and control industrial control systems, networking many disparate computing devices and thousands of I/O points in the industrial control setting. To meet the demands of the industrial automation, Aonix and QNX® have implemented several product features that ease application development. Plug-ins for the Eclipse platform, a universal platform for tools integration, gives developers the freedom to choose the development language and platform most suitable to their application. In addition, Aonix extended the Java priorities from the typical 10 to the 32 required by firm real-time applications. The QNX Neutrino is designed with an extensible framework to provide the reliable, scalable, high-performance systems needed for mission- and life-critical applications such as 911 systems, medical instruments, high-end routers, aviation and space systems, process-control systems, in-car devices, and point-of-sale terminals. "This port to the QNX Neutrino RTOS extends our penetration into the industrial control realm," noted Jacques Brygier, Aonix vice-president of marketing. "QNX provided some very impressive solutions in the industrial control space. PERC's real-time control and Java's portability enables QNX partners to more easily network and control the many independent computing devices that make up a factory floor." Designed for mission-critical infrastructure, military command and control, industrial automation and commercial telematics, the PERC platform comes complete with standard libraries and development tools refined to provide sub-millisecond precision and high reliability through advanced memory management and high-precision timing services. Its Optimizeit™ 5.0 PERC Edition Profiler enables developers to quickly pinpoint and resolve performance bottlenecks with a small target application footprint. A pacing agent monitors memory allocation of the application workload, automatically adjusting the timing and ratios of CPU-time increments and improving the system's responsiveness to dynamic changes in the system workload. A PERC 4.1 port to QNX Neutrino 6.x is available now. Royalty-free project licensing packages of PERC 4.1 are available. PERC 4.1 includes AOT and JIT compiler optimizations for the Pentium, PowerPC, ARM, and XScale targets, Windows, Linux and Solaris development platforms, and RTOS support of Linux, VxWorks® and OSET Real-Time Operating System, Nucleus, and QNX.
